Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - older surefire classic light over barrel

what is the difference or problem with the older surefire classic 6v where it cornered and the bulb housing sat above the barrel as opposed to 1 oclock as they do now?

was it an issue of getting in the way or scope washout? looking at an older used model like this but I have an aimpoint M on a RR tactical handle will I have trouble here?

I've had mine for about 6 years.  It is now going back to Surefire for the 2d time for repairs.  It just stopped working both times.  Perhaps some recoil effect is breaking it.  I have had no problems with the newer design.

I agree I like the over-barrel design better.  But it was stopped wokring twice already.
