Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - norrels finish, a barrel and a question about iT

am getting ready to do my barrel upper/lower in norrels OD Green.  my question is when I took the FSB off the barrel it has the 2 uncoated rings where the FSB sits,  Would you paint those or tape them off?  normally would be a no brainer,  but the barrel is going to be green while the FSB will be black.  Norrels is very thin so maybe painting those spots wouldnt hurt but figured I would ask on this one.

Coat it.  When you put the FSB back on, oil the barrel and surrounding area to help it slide on and prevent marring.
