I've been looking at mini red dots or reflex sights to pair with my acog and there are so many on the market it can make your head spin. i have about $300 to spend and really looking at the jpoint or a burris fastfire II they are about the same price.  If anyone can help me it would be great

Personally, I would try to save up another couple hundred bucks and get the RMR. Although I have only used the RMR, I cannot imagine the others being as durable. Plus, you get a lifetime warranty.

I got my RMR RM04 from red-dot-scopes.com for $385 shipped, then I had to pay another $75 for a mount (although the ACOG mounts will run you a little closer to $100––just shop around the interwebz). Of course, I don't see that model being sold by them––they do have some LED models but they are closer to $500.

Botach has the RM04 for $357, but you may want to call ahead and make sure they have it in stock; there have been mixed reviews (some great, some poor) of dealings with them.

One reason I'm pushing the dual illuminated is that it's cheaper than the LED ones (by about $100 or so). Plus, you don't have to worry about batteries. In 10 years when the tritium fades you won't notice the $400 you spent in 2011 and it will still illuminate using the fiber optics. Another reason is that the optic has to be removed from its base to change batteries in LED models which may (or may not) affect your zero; it will require tools.

ETA: If you want a red dot and not an amber one, then you are stuck going with the LED. I would still argue for saving a few extra bucks for the Trijicon.

Burris Fastfire is a good budget reflex.

A really nice Reflex sight to consider is the Leupold Delta Point Reflex Sight...

Thanks,

If you look around you may be able to find a trijicon ms03 for a great price.  It is basically the same as a jpoint and was discontinued after trijicon came out with the rmr line, but it still has a lifetime warranty from trijicon.  There were a few places that had them for $150 a few months ago, but they may have all sold out.
