| does anybody other than stag make a left handed ar rifle, and what do you think of left handed ar's? |
I shot A2's for 6 years, never really bothered me. I had a few spent rounds hit my kevlar helmet, but nothing to worry about. I am building my own now, and I am just going to build a standard version. And yes, I am a lefty.
edit - No, sorry, I do not know of anyone else than Stag for lefties. Also, I never look for them. Good luck. |

Past that dpms makes one but I'd recommend the stag. You can also always just buy the stag receiver and bcg and put another barrel on it. Stag recomends a barrel with an ambi extension but I've seen a few barrel vendors say that their barrels will work with a left handed upper and they don't have one. |

My uncle is a lefty, but he owns a right handed AR. Lefty ARs are cool, but you lose a huge market if you go to sell it. I think the last numbers I saw were that less than 8-10% of people are left handed. So you are losing out on 90% of the market if you choose to sell your rifle.
I would get a right handed model and get ambidextrous controls for the safety, mag release, and bolt release (bad lever comes close since it can be operated from either side). |

I'm a lefty, I have a Stag left handed. I like it, but I wont buy another. After learning a lot around here, I would get a stock Colt, BCM, Spikes, DD or another high quality Right Handed version with the following upgrades. A badger ordnance right side CH, Bad Ass ambi selector, and a norgon ambi mag release. Better yet assemble your own the way you want it in the first place. Standard receivers are made for a lefty, as long as you change what I suggested. You will never have to take your hand off fire control to load, unload, mag. change, malfunction drill, etc. And you will be able to look right at the empty/open chamber using your right eye with out needing to cant the rifle at all for any of the above. Good luck.

i have a lefty stag right now and i love it. but i am thinking about building one and i couldnt find any left handed upper recievers other than stag. http://www.lefthandrifles.com/ar/ For the lower the best option is the KAC full lower which is pricy. It has an ambi safety, mag release, and bolt release. They are around 750 bucks but that includes a nice kac 2 stag trigger and a sopmod stock(which is 200 bucks by itself). For a standard ar lower an ambi safety or a left handed one helps. I personally prefer the kac ambi mag release of the norgon and it is cheaper. Haven't tried the troy one yet but it looks good. I had a left handed 6.8 stag upper and liked the left handed eject. Had feed issues with it. The 6.8 really needs m4 feedramps which mine didn't have. In the future I'd consider getting another left handed upper. Been thinking hard about their 11.5 inch left handed one. |

Noveske custom makes stuff for him in left hand config. |

At least in the past noveske was getting their left handed parts from cmt which is the same as stag as far as the parts go. It had been said noveske was getting a good deal of parts from cmt. Really the barrel is the only thing special on one of their uppers.
Really stags left handed upper design is the best. Its better that noveske use it vs some other that wouldn't be compatible. |

Thats what I thought as well... But when I emailed Noveske to find this out, they told me that they were making their own upper and bolts for Bedrock. So theyre not getting it elsewhere they are making it in house. |
| I am left handed I had a stag 2L but sold it because I wanted a better rifle. I went with an M&P15 shooting a right handed ar left handed inst a big deal I have nothing ambi on it and it works great. I don't get hit with brass I can work the saftey with. My thumb only thing it really needs is an ambi charging handle |

They kinda impressed me as the same level...better than average but not quite Cadillacs. |

They kinda impressed me as the same level...better than average but not quite Cadillacs. I should specify the rifle I had was a Stag left handed upper on a DPMS lower. the M&P feels like a whole new rifle fit and finish every thing is "milspec" except the barrel to me it is on a whole different level vs stag. I love my M&P I would take it over stag any day. BUT back on topic no mater the gun brand shooting as a lefty is not hard with an AR after owning a left handed AR and now owning a standard right handed I guess you call it AR I prefer the right handed. What is really nice being lefty with an AR is you can see the bolt and ejection port so if you are out of ammo you dont have to flip the gun over to see the chamber is empty. The other good thing about having a standard AR is parts, with a left handed the only place to get parts is Stag. Standard version you can get parts any where and when the zombies or what ever your long term survival scenario is being able to locate parts is going to be important. |
| I recently got a Stag lefty. Yes, I'm a southpaw. Now, my previous experience was all military with the original version that did not have the case deflector or forward assist. I'm not sure a forward asist is needed on a "sport" rifle, but do understand it's need on a military/police weapon. And as to the case deflector, after they figred out the chroming and such from the originals, it's the best thing they ever changed. Still, I stayed away from AR's because of past experience. The lefty version is nice. There aren't all that many dedicated left handed firearms, so it's pleaseant when I get one that gives me the same user friendliness that right handed folks take for granted. |

I have owned ARs since 1993 - as many as 9 at one time. You can search on my username in the archives and see how I always said I did NOT need or want a left handed AR.
For whatever reason, I finally tried a Stag 2L upper a few years back. I liked it so much, I have since sold or traded all my uppers for left handed uppers. I have 3 Stag leftys, looking to get one more, as well as an MSAR E4 with a lefty bolt. Stag now offers 1:7 twist, M4 feed ramps, M16 bolt carriers, MP tested bolts, etc... all in the left handed format. I also install an ambi safety and Norgon mag release on every lower I own. These are MY ARs so they might as well work best for ME. Quoted:

WildWilli, Where did you get that bolt release - the one in your picture? It is a Wilson Combat and I got it at Brownell's http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=21249/Product/AR_15_TACTICAL_BOLT_RELEASE |
