I am interested in the difference between the standard m-4 style handguards and the 7.0 larue.  I know the weight of both.  I am curious when you take off all that is needed to take off the standard m-4 and replace it with the larue what is the real weight difference?  And with rail systems is heat an issue?

Thank you both for the great information.

I have a similar question.  I am debating either installing a Larue 7.0 on my current M4 upper, or getting an LMT MRP.  If I were to go MRP I would get the rifle length version to maximize it's versatility (I would only get the 16" and 20" barrels in 5.56 and maybe 6.8; no SBRs in WA state).

What is the weight difference between a 16" equipped full-length MRP and a 16" M4 upper equipped with a Larue 7.0?

Thanks in advance for the info.

Why did LaRue change to a Stainless Steel Barrel Nut?

Were their problems (reported or otherwise) with the Aluminum Nuts?

I, too, have been contemplating this. I want a MRP, but not if it's heavier than a standard upper with the LaRue 7.0.
