Is it possible to mount a full size foregrip on a carbine barrel (16")?

I saw a configuration on another thread (http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=12&t=165480&page=2) and was wondering if there are any special considerations to doing this.

Thanks in advance!

The general name for this style is Dissipator: http://www.bushmaster.com/shopping/weapons/pcwa2s16d.asp On Bushmasters, there's a gas block under the handguards, with a normal 16" barrel gas system. The front sight is not part of the gas system.

can any full sized foregrip allow this style or only certain types? Or is the barrel configuraiton different?

There is a new option available from Yankee Hill Machine Company that they call the low profile gas block. It replaces the front sight tower and allows most aftermarket forearms (tubes and railed systems) to be mounted directly over it. You can check it out at http://www.yhm.net/.

Any full length handguards will work, and the barrel configuration is different in that the barrel has a another location for the front sight base.
