I saw a thread on this a few weeks ago, but no luck using the search; sorry...

I'm looking for metal bolt on accessory rails. Anyone got a recommendation?

Thanks.

I was just at a gun show where one of the vendors were selling rails about 6 to 8 inches long and attached with a couple bolts. Looked pretty god for $10.00 per rail. I think GG&G make them, although not the ones I saw at the gun show. GG&G would be best quality and may have what you need. Hope this helps.

I have an extra one that is designed with built in slope on the base to fit A2 handguards.  The built in slope makes it level after being attached to the bottom or top of the A2 handguards.  I use one and have been very happy using it with a foregrip.  I decided I didnot want it full length so I cut it in half.  That is why I have an extra.  I am not sure who made it but it appears to be good quality.
If your interested in my extra uncut one, e-mail me. [email protected]

Thanks fellas. The GG&G is kinda pricey, but I guess it's cheaper that a SIR, lol.

Slidelock, I have a Fulton Armory float tube on my gat, so the angle doesn't float my boat. Thx tho.

I agree with Klinger_04, go with the AAC rail. It works and costs a lot less than GG&G's rail. I bought one to play with to see if I liked haveing a forward vert grip. I did so I replaced it with something stronger (a SIR 50).

Here are some pics of it with the AAC grip and a SF M900A.

I found a carbine size rail made by John Masen for $12 at Midwayusa.com.   It works just fine [imghttp://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/3f85432c_17714/bc/My+Photos/__hr_/AR152.jpg?bcTXVh_Ab.3JvKNA[/img]

Thanks, that AAC looks like it'll work.

Will the AAC rail work with regular "CAR" handguards?  How does it mount exactly, does the heatshield have to be removed?  TIA

Yes, it mounts through the vent holes and the heatshield.  It is a VERY easy install!  I have used the GG&G and the AAC rails.  I would go with the AAC for the price plus the rail is a little longer so you can mount a vertical grip closer to the receiver if you want.  Over all I think this is a good cheap way to see if you like having a vertical grip or other accessories mounted on the forend, but it’s nowhere near being a solid set up!
