wondering if there are any suggestions for a around the house type weapon light which can be mounted on the ar and if possible have (most likely at an additional cost) a remote pressure switch. thanks

The lack of response probably has something to do with that lack of options under $100.

I picked up a LNIB Insight M3 with batteries at the last show for $40. New I see them for about $95-$100. They aren't as durable as the Surefire lights but they are $50-$60 cheaper.

These guys have them pretty cheap. Never ordered from them though. Also check Ebay.

the tac light seems like my best bet, is it a 1 inch light that can be mounted with a 1 inch ring? or is it some other diameter?

Weaver 1" ring worked for mine - if you get the touch pad don't try to change the shape as I screwed it up (it can be fixed but better not tweek the pad) - Used Part of bicycle inner tube to mount  the pad to the foreend.

Surefire is expensive but if you can scrape up the money worth it as I have some of their products as well and you can see the difference in construction and you do get what you pay for.

but for base I just purchased from Calvary Arms a plastic rail and mounted under the forearm but do use weaver ring.
