i`am about to start the process of building wepon #2.  the first one was bought from a gun show in detroit michigan (bushmaster shorty)  with a1 upper and  muzzle break lol and also had a factory 30rd mag.  the wepon was lost in a house fire along with a few others. so i bought a striped bushy lower new for 130 out the door  one of the reasons i bought it because the last 4 dig`s of seial # are 0000  witch makes it real easy to remember. it is a post ban reciever. i want to build this wepon with the strongest parts i can get my hands on to elminate needless problems, extra work, and wasted time. the extra money spent on heavy duty parts is well worth it. to elminate a mech. problem when when the wepon is needed most.  thanks for your time and reading my rambling post!!!

Pick up the Stag/ CMT LPK and you won't be sorry.  Its about $10 more than the standard kits, but I think you will find it to be worth it.

Teknic has them, along with good prices and service.

I have used DPMS Lower Parts Kits for some time now, and am happy with them.  Their hammer is the unnotched type.

Stag/CMT would be my choice.... Bushy a close second. Due mainly to cost/ avail. I have also seen demil'd disconnectors not refinished in Bushy kits (don't bother me, but may bother u if u are fussy.) Also may be a QC fluke?  My $0.02.

if your going to upgrade parts like trigger, pistol grip, etc; its cheaper to buy the parts individually.  that way your not paying for parts your going to replace anyway.  i split the pins/springs and stuff between dpms and midway.  it will save $.

No offense, but I have seen them. My last build was with an Armalite LPK, and it was crap. Sorry to disagree, maybe their next one will be perfect.

As previously stated in the now closed Mega-build thread...

The bolt catch spring was slightly out of wound, it was funnel shaped, and the hammer spring was bent. The trigger guard pin was a little wide, but was easily corrected.

Do ARMALITE hammers or triggers have any markings on them like COLT?

I've had knockoff hammer/trigger problems before.  I had S.A.W. replace with Colt parts.

I don't like buying LPKs that could possibly been made at Olympic Arms or something.  If there's no markings, dealers can market them in any number of ways.  I.E. buy crap for cheap and sell it as good parts for a good margin.

Haha, nice Oly bash... (I figured you couldn't go 2 whole posts without entertaining yourself.)

This LPK was in fact in the OD green plastic box. And the box and the pistol grip was in a sealed plastic bag, with Armalite's label on the outside. If it was a fake kit, then it was an elaborate fake. I guess it could've been a Colt or BFI, or RRA or something else, but who knows.

Well if that don't beat all, Jethro! I posted the following in the LPK thread too since you don't have a "my active".....

Look, Mud.

I appreciate that you are an AR newb. I would be ass hurt too if I wasted some cash on an OLY and came to find out that I can't REALLY count on it to go the long haul.

When I was new I asked around when I was SO Close to getting an Olympic Arms, and THANKFULLY I talked to someone who new better and they advised me that Oly was crap and I should steer clear of it.

I choose to pass that wisdom on to WHOMEVER will be wise enough to listen. I'm glad I didn't get burned and others should have the same opportunity to make an informed decision too.

w00t! and good night!
