is there a name brand that I should seek or any that I should avoid. Or just grab the cheapest mil-spec kit I can find and go on with my life? Also any links to a kit you recommend, I don't need the A2 stock because I am going to put a ACE ARFX stock on the it.

They are most definitely NOT all created equal.  Browells has a stock part combo that had the T00b, spring, and buffer... it's priced pretty decent.

If it's a serious use weapon, you could spring for a COLT buffer tube so you know you get a forged unit.  They cost about 3-4 times more, but...
