I'm starting to look for a good mid-price spotting scope. Anyone have any suggestions. Also, what if any are the pros/cons of an angled eyepiece vs. straight. thanks

My Experience is that you get what you pay for in optics - Plus you have to make up your mind what you are going it to use it for. I have the C-90 Celestron for High Power shooting - It comes with both angle & straight & has camera adapters. I used that for Telephotography & High Power shooting but was much to powerful for Bulleyes Pistol so Had to have another for that hobby. For hunting the pistol was too week but portable enough. I would say first determine what you are going to be using it for. For a good all round Try the Howa's or Bushnell's.
I see some of those used in all the above situations.

I use a Bushnell and its great for pistol shooting and sighting in my AR at 100 yds or even .308 at 200-300 yds but past that I find it lacking in both power and clarity.  But ANYTHING is better than the crap you get to use for free at the range!
