I "heard" Colt was not making any more weapons with a FH, bayonet lug or collapsible stocks.  Talking about AR's. The letter should be coming out shortly.  Why would they do something like this? Is there CEO a Democrat? Do they have there own AWB? God I hope this is just a rumor!
Did they forget who put them on the map? Shame we cant get our hands on a new XM8. "YET".hock.gif

Don't believe anything you "hear" and only half of what you see.

Jesus, I dont mean to rant and I may be new here. But every day someone starts a topic with the same damn question. Its really starting to get annoying. Maybe someone should put a sticky up about this or something. Every 20 threads its a new "Is Colt going to sell LE guns to the public" thread. Sorry for the rant.

One possibility for Colt's keeping quiet is because of thier obvious status as a military supplier. I would bet that one of their biggest customers is Uncle Sam (and his various state and local governments) and they are accutely interested in remaining out of the anti-gun public's cross hairs. Right now the common perception is that the AR/M16 is the "good guy" whereas the AK-47 is the "bad guy." I'm sure they want to maintain the Captain America image.

People say similar things about Ruger, but it worked to their advantage with the Mini-14.

Just my thoughts, I could be way off base.

To charter 1124,Colt will only be on our side when they cant sell their stocks of post ban rifles and have to reconfigure them to meet demand of what the AR public wants.XM8 semi auto from H&K,another who cares about the consumer company..we have a better chance of seeing god, besides the Bushmaster carbon model#4 is probably better than the XM8 anyway not to mention spare parts compatability with all AR parts and assemblies.

Ah, the daily Colt bashing thread.  This does get a little old.  The only question is, are they always from a troll account for a Marketing Department employee or Distributor of:

1.)  Bushmaster

2.)  DPMS

3.)  Olympic

4.)  Rock River

Or ????

Or do all the people who post these little daily "let's stir up hate for Colt on a regular basis" gems really just fail to read the same post here on AR15.com under another name from the day before?  Just want to hear themselves talk?  Are they really that Clueless or are they in fact just malicious "Brand X" promoters?

It's a good thing the Colt product is so good that intelligent buyers who really go in harms way (like the .mil and LE world) ignore the naysayers and specify Colt.

Perhaps the Colt faithful should come on EVERY SINGLE DAY and talk about how Bushmaster doesn't proof/mag check all their guns - making their barrel markings fradulent,  or how DPMS bolts (and some bushy) fail at the cam pin hole regularly, or how all the clone makers are not even manufacturers - just assembly shops of parts of unknown origin, etc, etc, etc, Ad Nauseum, just for balance.

I want to remain civil and fair, but I will defend my favorite when they are unfairly attacked.  I am aware that Bushmaster and Armalite have their flags on the AR15.com masthead, and I do not wish them ill, but I will not stand by and listen to such partisan drivel unanswered.  Those that wish to hear less from me, Bradd and others they should learn to be more civil and less confrontational.

If Colt wants to give priority to guns ordered by the tens of thousands for our Troops and Homeland Security in a time of war, from their best customers for the last thirty years that seems reasonable to me.  Or they could try to make all the hostile Internet whiners love them so they MIGHT buy just one.

Which makes more sense in your business model?

Warmly, Col. Colt

I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Colt through private sale if the price was right. However, I would not buy a new Colt, and give my money to the company due to its policies. I wouldn't mind seeing Colt lose it's contracts, and have to come crawling back to the civilian market just to survive. If they weren't willing to do so, then the company can fold due to its policies. YMMV

Well said, Col Colt.   The rantings of the Colt bashing clueless really does not matter.  They must convince themselves they have made the right decision.  I owned a Bushmaster prior to the Colts, and there was nothing wrong with it, but professional instructors invariably recommend Colt for a number of reasons.  When choosing tools, always seek out the best.....especially if your life may depend on it one day.

Corporate decision making is often clueless to the consumer, because we don't know all the details involved.....therefore we must speculate.  Here and now is Colt's chance to triple its sales, and they are fumbling the ball for the civvie market.  Clueless management, but I don't want to run their company, I just want a few more of their ARs.  Each person must decide what AR brand he likes and enjoy it.  I see no reason to continually try to rip a firearms company down.....the antis do enough of that.  Shooters will always have different requirements and needs, and the vast AR market has something that should fill every niche.....and if you don't like Colt, then don't buy one.  Simple isn't it?

I'm also sick and tired of these daily Colt-bashing rants delivered by know-nothings who want to 'make their bones' on this site. I've discovered a toll free number for you guys to call and complain about these perceived injustices - 1-800- CRY- WAAA!

Is Colt out of its latest union labor problems at this point? They might be up to their ears trying to fill military contracts on time and do not have the capacity to build no-ban guns yet. That's just a guess on my part, but it might be a good one!

And remember all you union guys, your unions support Kommie Kerry and his band of leftist gun-grabbers. They'd be more than happy to see Colt (and the others) go down in flames along with your gun rights. So shut up and just keep paying your union dues and look at yourselves in the mirror if Kerry gets elected. It'll make the AWB seem like a walk in the park.

amen brother! and, gee, i ain't a shill for any of those other companies either! colt needs to have it's feet held to the fire until it gets it's corporate, politically correct mind right.

also, this is the first time i've seen one of these threads...but i have a job and a life and don't spend all my time basking in the cold blue glow of a computer screen...

Who's side is Colt on?

The all mighty dollar's side.

But apparently my green backs ain't good enough for them.  That's OK, Bushmaster seems to like my $$ enough.

I think that Colt is owned and ran but spineless people who have given in to political correctness.
It is basically that same thing that Smith and Wesson did. I love Colt's AR's and S&W revolvers. But I won't buy any more from either company.
