Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - What's a STANAG rail??

I recently saw an ad for used Aimpoint QR/P mounts. The seller states that they don't work with Weaver rails and only work with "Stanag" rails.  I've never heard of a Stanag rail.

Anyone kow what these are?  Thx.

STANAG is NATO speak for STANdardization AGreement.

The STANAG for rails is M1913, the so called Picatinny in use on all USGI accessory rails.

So, the Aimpoint QRP mount is for a Pic rail.  Thanks Tweak.
