This is primarily to all the LEO's out there. How are your patrol rifles mounted in your cars? What type of locking systems do you use? Do you leave your weapon in your cruiser when you are off shift and it is parked?

I need this info because it is looking like patrol rifles may be issued to Supervisors, and I would not want then to end up out on the street, unlike some FBI MP-5's did a few years ago in Tenn.

Thanks in advance for the help.

we're trying to get the pro-gard locks in our cars right now.  we don't have take home, so the cars run 24/7, mostly.  some are in the trunk and some laying on the front seats when the car is on patrol.  i don't like that system, but i'm not in a supervisor role or decision making position...i'm just the guy that may take lead because of unsecured equipment.

i'll watch this to see what you find.  it'll help me too.

Time lock the in vehicle mounts for safety, the trunk mounts do not need to be time locked.

I remember that, he lost a 40 cal Sig too. I have been involved in the rounding up a suspect who stoled a 870 from Park Ranger car. It was locked with an electronic switch. I hope the new rifle mounts have a back up lock. Don't think I would park the cruiser at home with rifle in mount.
