I really need help.. I have Aimpoints at the moment.. and they are amazing optics.. but I believe I have astigmatism.. dot is a fiery starburst instead of a dot... my understanding is a prism optic won't give me the same issue..

looking for aim point quality
semi reasonable pricing
astigmatism friendly
1X no magnification

please.. any help appreciated..

thanks

Even outside?  Indoors almost any red dot will come out blurry or star shaped I found out

I had to get glasses to fix my astigmatism.  I got ones for shooting so I have a nice pair of eye protection now.  Good luck!

It surprises me no one has made a red dot, with an adjustable diopter

The Leupold Prismatic has been discontinued, the only other possibility I'm aware of is the Vortex Spitfire 1x.
ETA: If you want better quality than that, you'll have to search for a used Leupold Prismatic (I suggest the DCD double-circle-dot reticle) or step up to a good 1-4x variable.

Leupold Prismatic is very good but not daylight visible (if this matters to you) and no longer made.  Burris came out with one 2 years ago but it failed miserably because of the useless reticle. They are back on the drawing board last I've heard.  I used to have one and didn't care for the busy reticle.

The only game left in town is the Vortex Spitfire

my struggle is accepting Vortex could possibly put out a product as solid as Aimpoint.. I hold Aimpoint in a very high regard because I own several and they are really well made.. is Vortex build quality on par with them or will I be left disappointed...

Get LASEK, not LASIK.

After over a decade going down the path you are about to embark upon. I finally "saw the light" and fixed my eyes. Nothing will improve your shooting more or be of more value to you. It will make a Bushnell look like a Swarovski. All dot sights and irons will work great.

Do NOT try to find optics that are "astigmatism friendly" because it's a sad, dead end road that leads to laser vision correction anyway and the knowledge you just wasted 10 or 15 years of perfect eyesight because you were a cheap short sighted fool. (No pun intended)

Can't help ya there, but if track records from others here mean anything, I don't think you'd have to worry about Vortex standing behind their stuffs.  Mine has been working flawlessly for 2 years and many sessions at the range/matches.  With that said, comparing a 'red dot' to a prism optic is like apples to oranges.  Regardless of brand, the glass etched reticle in prism optic is visible without battery while the red dot type wouldn't be.
