What is the difference between the SP1 upper and the colt sporter Match Hbar upper? Or are they the same? I've read different articles where they use SP1 and sporter in the same article.

The match HBAR is exactly what it says, a heavy barreled rifle designed for precise target shooting.

The SP1 doesn't exactly meet those specs

It's like 20 years old hehe

Depends on what you're looking for. The SP1 is very similar to the original M-16 without the forward assist. The HBAR Sporter is a late 80's design similar to the Government M16A2, but the barrel is heavier.
