Have any of you guys seen this before? I ordered 9 kits from M&A. Two of them varmints and some assorted carbines and mid-lenghts. I assembled the varmint I recieved first and the cartridge will only go halfway into the chamber. When you look at the chamber with a bright light you can clearly see a ridge all the way around the chamber where the reamer stopped and did not travel to the bottom. I thought they test fired the uppers after the barrel is assembled and checked for spacing. The M&A website says the uppers are built by LMT and test fired, but I can't believe that this one was ever fired! Also, the other varmint I got has markings on the barrel with the rate of twist and caliber where this first one has none. I wonder if this barrel was ever finished and meant to be shipped.

I am sure they will make it good, but who knows how long it will take to get another one. |

stuff happens especialy since november, they are pumping these things out, some one is bound to grab a barrel off the reject shelf, I guess M&A needs to look at there quality program a little more. never heard the LMT part of the story.

This is from their website:
"LMT (Lewis Machine and Tool) also manufactures and assembles our barreled uppers, utilizing the same stringent guidelines to meet or exceed current Military Specifications. Our receivers are hard coat black anodized as per Mil-Spec. In conclusion, all dimensional as well as assembling requirements are verified before each and every upper receiver is both function tested and test fired. All are then cleaned and oiled for preservation, and individually packaged. " I'm sure something just got missed! Tony |

Tony,
Yea I'm no pro but that don't look right. Also, check out your gas tube in top pic. It looks like it sticks out too far back. Make sure your tube is pinned in in the front block/sight. I got my 20" SS kit Friday. and it has issues. gas port inside barrel has metal chunk hanging from it. Gas tube is not all the way in and not pinned, Front sight tower is pinned on crooked. No way mine was test fired either. They will be getting a call and emails. I hope they make it right. Let us know. We must be two of those 1 out of 10,000 they have problems with. or common as a steel penny. like in their FAQ. So far not impressed. |
