SLR has their new gas blocks in an announcement in the AR New Products section. Says 1.3 oz (General weight, they have .9 .8 .7 gas blocks as well)
New .625 won't be out for a few months though. Comment says .625 is getting it's own profile and will be tiny. |

| Good to hear about the next gas blocks coming out. It seems most .625" gas blocks actually weigh more than the .750" since they don't remove as much material. They just bore the hole out smaller. I know Spikes is looking at titanium gas blocks, but nothing on the immediate horizon. I wish that V7 had opted to skeletonize the block a little more. |

This thread needs more awesomeness to offset that metallic swiss cheese.
Made a lot of progress today. I found out the Noveske NSR rail covers fit perfectly on the KMR. My Mag Tactical Upper's shipped today, so I'll swap out the BCM upper probably next week and take a 4-5 ounce weight savings. This thing is very easy to point. Obviously I'm missing about 10 ounces of weight before I can call it done. Aimpoint T1 on an absolute co-witness mount with the VZF redacted throw lever. It's on back order. Also waiting for Spikes to release their BUIS's and their titanium bolt carrier. In the mean time I'll do some lightening of minor components and get my painting done. The keymod rail and Surefire factory mount will get 86'ed once my IWC offset mount arrives.

I put one in my noveske, and the only time I had to test it the bolt was failing to lock back almost every mag. So I have to get a chance to try it again and try my stock buffer/spring which I failed to have with me last time. It is heavier than your standard buffer/spring combo. |

However, Spikes is going to try a Ti Gas block as well apparently with some steel sleeving. I want V7 to build a Ti linear compensator. Most of them are very heavy. I currently am going with the 2.2oz Simple Threaded Device made of steel. |

The only way the JP Silent Buffer can be tuned is by replacing the springs. JP makes a few different weights.
I tore down the KMR this evening in prep for receiving my Mag Tactical upper and V7 .625 gas block. Tear down was exceptionally easy. Removing the KMR from the receiver was very easy. The mounting solution is painfully simple. I also compared the weight of the Northtech titanium forward assist and the BCM stock forward assist. The difference was a little disappointing. I took some weight specs from some of the smaller parts; BCM Midlength Gas Tube: 21.44g V7 Weapon Systems Midlenth Gas Tube: 26.63g BCM Forward Assist: 20.18g BCM Forward Assist Spring: 1.65g Northtech Titanium Forward Assist: 14.24g Northtech Titanium Forward Assist Spring: 1.42g BCM .625" Gas Block: 54.62g BCM KMR Alignment Tab: 3.12g BCM KMR Barrel Nut: 45.16g BCM KMR Attachment Hardware: 16.26g BCM Dust Cover: 14.35g V7 Weapon Systems Dust Cover: 8.26g Dust Cover Spring: 0.61g BCM Dust Cover Pin: 6.00g Raptor Ambidextrous Charging Handle: 40.26g |

Great. I've been eyeballing that V7 selector switch, I've never been a huge fan of the 90 degree rotation on a milspec safety anyway. Now I just need to come up with $100-200 for my V7 goodies. I'm also eyeing those Titanium Takedown pins... :) |

It's potentially more than just a controllability thing...reliable function could come into question if that's happening. Please don't take this the wrong way. I'm just used to my big 'ole heavy 6oz buffers.

Ok, my lightweight is coming together. I don't have a weight yet, but it's freakin' light. Crazy light.
It's a Mag Tactical lower, JP low mass BCG, almost everything from the V7 catalog, Mako plastic dust cover, Hammer forged barrel lightened by Adco, empty buffer, yada yada yada. Some of the parts I have, but have not installed yet. I'll post a weight when I get one. 
The only part it needs to shoot that it doesn't have is the gas tube, only because I didn't have time to install it. Some of the parts in the pic will be swapped out for lighter stuff, and I have a few modifications to make still. I will be competing in the category 'lightest metal title I that I actually shoot'.

V7 Weapon Systems released another new product recently. An aluminum forward assist. Naturally it's a bit lighter than even the Nortech Titanium Forward Assist. Another benefit is the V7 unit is subdued black. V7's offering is also cheaper at 35 bucks.
