I have a couple of questions.

On J&T Dist. kits:

1. Why are there different trigger groups?
a. Standard trigger Group
b. 2 stage trigger group
c. KAC 2 stage trigger

2. What makes one better then the other?

I live in CA and building a FAB10 lower and J&T kit. This is my first build and would be very gratefull for any of your tips, info.

I poked around their web site and didn't see the three trigger groups you mention. If you have links capture them and post them back here.

#1 is probably the mil-spec standard issue trigger set-up and the best choice for a self-defense weapon.

#2 and #3 are probably match or adjustable trigger assmeblies and I wouldn't recommend them for use on a rifle other then one that shoots matches as the "extra moving parts" can cause a defensive rifle to fail at the wrong time.

A tip or two - get a couple extra take down pin detents - those things get lost really easy.

Getting the front one in place is the hardest part of the whole assembly. I use a stout but thin knife blade to hold the detent over the spring while guiding the front pivot pin into the lower with my other hand. And for God's sake wear eye protection!

Clean out each hole before you attempt to wedge something inside of them. A properly sized drill bit or a sharp tool will work. Lubricate the holes and springs before you start.

Cover the side of the receiver behind the bolt release before coming at the pin from the back (rear) of the rifle and make sure that the sping and plunger are in place before tapping that pin in.

Check the wrap of the hammer spring three times before putting it in place.

Support the ear of the trigger assembly on a small wooden block as you gently tap in the trigger guard pin and make sure that the winter trigger pin is facing the right way. (remember the oil here too)

You'll need a set of pin punches and a small brass hammer.

That is what it is Paul.

Jamescal, they just give you the option of having the standard trigger or 2 different 2 stage triggers.

By the way, I am also waiting on a J&T kit (20" flat-top). [:D]  I have heard nothing but good about them, and every time I have called them Jessie has answered my questions and then some. [:)]
