So i've been in the process of building an M4gery, and recently got a Lpk while out of town.  Happened to pick it up in person at the store... Anyway, got this thing installed in a used lower (old lower i was using, before i got a forged lower from Sun Devil Mfg, put all the parts from the old lower in the new and they work fine) and try to function test with the upper and Bcg...The bcg keeps getting stuck on the hammer when i cycle the system. So i take the gun apart and inspect, comparing to my other gun.. The hammer seems to sit alittle high when set back in the firing position. Doesnt matter if the safty is on or off, stiill hags up.  Help anyone??

You need a new hammer. Does the hammer have a step in the face? Is the bcg the ramped or unshrouded type?
Pics?

You can stone the very edge off the notch of the hammer to clear the BCG.
Just remove the sharpness, round it over.  I had to do this on an old parts gun.
Here's some pics from randall's Tech Site

sorry no pics...... the hammer has no step in it....i dont see any markings to tell who make it either....my bcg is the original style....its a Colt take off half moon style...   So is it a out of spec trigger maybe, or maybe an Ar10 setup?

If you are not walking the charging handle back down, confirm that you have installed the disconnector spring (large coil downward into the trigger slot).

As for the the hammer it's self, confirm that the tail of it is not too long and causing carrier wedging.  Also confirm that the hammer is not too wide, or the carrier slot too narrow, and this is causing the binding.

Lastly, confirm that you have a semi firing pin in the B/C, and not a M-16 FP with the larger diameter causing the hammer to catch the collar since it would be protruding above the edge of the carrier ramp.

As for the hammer, it will always track the bottom of the carrier when the B/C is in motion, just that if it too high at rest, either being contained by the trigger or Disco, there is a chance that it may be catching the FP collar on an non-shrouded carrier.

So i pulled my guns apart and did some comparing with a ruler..(i dont have calipers yet)   the top of the hammer in question sits right at 9/16 of an inch from the top of the lower reciever, and my other gun that Ive had no problems with is sitting right at 1/2 an inch from the top.....is this a problem if im running a shrouded carrier in that gun,or does the hammer need to sit lower?

edit: ive been swapping uppers and lowers on two of my guns to function test before i plan on taking it out to test fire..The problem surfaced when i tryed function testing with a half circle colt carrier,it would get hung up on something inside...But the full circle shrouded carrier seams to work fine,no binding.

I would blame it on the Colt parts being out of spec... Colt can't do anything right, they're so busy trying to be politically correct.

Don't take this thread down that road.
