I know I've read about these on the boards here somewhere, but I can't manage to find it.

I'm looking for a 5.56 flash hider that can be attached to the end of the barrel, but also has external threads on it so that a suppressor (silencer) can be screwed on to the flash hider without removing it from the barrel.

Anybody know what I'm talking about?  Sometimes I don't even know what I'm trying to say.

You might want to check out the Smith Enterprise website regarding the Canadian issue vortex flash-hider.  I believe it is externally threaded for Ops Inc cans.

"1001-G6A2-SBV.  G6A2-SBV with 22x1 mm RH O.D. thread with 1/2-28 I.D. thread Vortex®
Heat treated same as all other Vortex's and used by Canadian Special Forces. Limited Availability.  $75.00"

It looks like the earlier, more robust vortex with added coarse threads on the exterior.  I was thinking about dropping one on my C8/723 clone.

Hope this helps, eh!

Are you planning on attaching a particular brand of QD can to the FH or are you just searching for a particular threaded FH from a can company just to have for the look?

Haven't really made it that far.  I was thinking about having ADCO shorten my M4orgery and having the FH attached permanently.  I was thinking that I would get one of these external threaded FHs so that in the future I could still use a can without having to worry about the permanently attached FH.

You will have to determine what QD can you want to use first as I don't think there are any FH's from one company that will be compatible with the can from another. Unless you get an AAC Omni or Gemtech Halo that use the standard A2 FH & some others. Forgive me if this was already your plan but I didn't notice anything concrete that mentioned this in your original post.

It would be best to find the can you want and then buy the mount for it. Have the mount attached instead of picking a random mount and then be forced to use the supressor its designed for when you find out you want something else.

I plan to someday get a KAC NT4 can for one of my carbines and had a KAC FH mount perm attached to my 14.5" Colt upper.
