I was looking at an upper that has a 1/7 twist rate. I've always only shot 55 gr. and wondered if this is a problem with the 1/7?

Would I be better off with 1/9 instead? Thanks.

I shoot 55 grain with a 1/7 with no problems.  If your only going to 55 grain, 1/9 might be better, but if you ever plan on using the large match and self defense loads, go with 1/7 twist.

It's a tough decision. It just so happens that I like the configuration of this 1/7. Thanks

Gravy, use the search feature.  There have been about 4 threads to this effect in the past 10 days.  Look at some of the info given in these.  As for my recommendation, go 1:7  55 grain m193 spec rounds perform fine.

I shoot 55 out of my 1/7 all of the time.
Getting the 1/9 will limit your choices of
heavier rounds down the road, if you choose
to shoot 75's or 77's.

Get the 1/7.

i have a 1-7 and i do shoot 55 grain stuff but i found that the accuracy is gone at 100 yds. i only shoot it at 50 or less yards and have to shoot 70 grain at any other distance beyond that.   but you will find that heavier bullet will fly straight for a long time and consistently.

I only own 1/7 and shoot 55g by the case. you're fine.

I've had pretty good results to 300 yards with 55gr in a 1/7 CL FF barrel.
