Can anyone tell me what this symbol on my Upper is??

All that it means is that Cerro forge provided a raw hunk of forged aluminum in the general shape of an upper receiver to a manufacturer who then actually did the machining to turn it into a real upper.
It carries no real meaning except that you now know you have an upper that's made from a proper forging like it's supposed to, but it doesn't tell you who "made" the upper. |

Only SOG Armory can tell you who milled your upper, but then they'd have to kill ya. I looks like they use uppers milled by several manufacturers. The one illustrated on the upper list, looks like a FNMI milled Anchor Harvey forging.
Just a list of upper receiver manufacturers that use or have used Cerro (keyhole) marked forgings: Addex Delton DPMS Spikes Tactical LMT Knight’s Armament Double Star Smith &Wesson Daniel Defense Sabre Defense Remington BCM Bushmaster Stag J&T Distributing (Doublestar) CMMG - Cerro Colt M4 - (“C” keyhole) Yankee Hill But then how about the companies that do the milling for the lower receivers manufacturers: LMT (Lewis Machine Tool) - mills for LMT, Lauer, DS arms, PWA, Eagle, [Armalite ?], Knights Armament, And Barrett CMT (Continental Machine Tool) - mills for Stag, Rock River Arms, High standard, Noveske, Century, Global tactical, CLE, S & W, MGI, Wilson Tactical, Grenadier Precision, [Colt ?] LAR- mills for LAR, Bushmaster, Ameetec, DPMS, CMMG, Double star, Fulton Armory, Spikes tactical, Grizzly JVP- mills for Double Star, LRB, Charles Daly Mega Machine Shop (MMS) - mills for Mega, GSE, Dalphon, POF, Alexander Arms Olympic- mills for Olympic, SGW, Tromix, Palmetto, Dalphon, Frankford, Century (old) Sun devil mills their own Superior arms mills for Superior, Lauer (new), Defensive Edge/CY6 SMOS mills for Larue, custom Territorial Gunsmiths mills for Territorial Gunsmith’s, Six Sigma Arms, CY6 Tactical Innovations mills for Global Tactical Essential Arms mills their own Hughes Precision mills their own So you see it's not that easy to give you a sraight answer |

I bought the Upper from SOG Amory if that helps identify it...?? It means that SOG uses quality forgings. Please note that if this is the same SOG Armory I'm thinking of - in Houston - they do not "make" any of their uppers or lowers. Instead they have them machined by one of the "real" makers of uppers and lowers and have their engraving put on the lowers. I have one of those lowers, and it's a very nice, very "in-spec" piece of art. |
| Yah that's the same SOG Amory. Well that's good to know. I was just wondering because there aren't ANY markings on my Upper besides the one I posted above. Don't get me wrong I love my Upper, I was just curious to as what brand it is. But, it works for me and I don't have problems so I guess the brand doesn't really matter |

Rock River Arms and Bravo Company are the only two I can think of off hand. Since there is no ATF requirement to mark uppers, but there IS a requirement to mark lowers, most vendors just do what's required. |

I know that one of the operations JD does is remove the forging mark from their uppers before they cut them. They use forgings from Brass Aluminum. But aside from the forge mark, most uppers just aren't marked so you'll never know who actually did the cutting unless you ask them directly and they feel like telling you. |

That in itself is 'real meaning'. You know at least the part came from a real forging company and isn't some kind of cast crap from who knows who. |
