Dont intend for it to ever reside on any one gun.Its only purpose is to tell me how accurate my various AR's really are with whatever load. After that it becomes a paper weight so dont need to spend alot.

Used fixed power.  Have at times picked up a nice Leupold X8, X10 or X12 fixed power that someone was trading in with their 22 center fire rifle.

Please take the following, not as something ya need to do, but as another point of view....., [;)]

Will you never entertain the idea of having a good bolt action hunting/LR rifle, guess the above suggestion is fine. But if you think a some point you might want a decent bolt rifle, I'd by a Leupold 4.5x 14 or 6.5x20 Vari-X III or higher model or go to Premier Recticle and purchase a "new" Gen II recticled Tactical scope. This one time cost of $600-800, depending on your choice will get you a "lifetime" warranty'd product and an item that will last you the rest of your life. It'll also get ya the "nuts on" consistency, so you never have to wonder, "IF" my scope is bad. Placed into an Armalite one piece mount, it'll be easy on easy off and relatively (as no two flat-tops are the same it seems) on the paper when switching from one upper to another.

The 6-20x40 Weaver Grand Slam is a great deal ($335 from www.swfa.com), and the glass is comparable to a Leupold Vari-XIII.

A high powered scope like that can be a great tool to improve shooting skills.
