I have decided I want to change out stocks on my bushmaster.  I have received a complete A2 buttstock kit.

Can someone give me step by step instructions on this process?

Help would be much appreciated.

I assume that you have collapsible stock now. Remove it including castle nut and tube and the back plate. Remember there will be a takedown spring under the back plate under load and will shoot out if you not careful. There is also detent pin behind the spring so don't loose it. The tube also hold the buffer retainer with the spring so capture it too when unscrewing the tube. Now screw in the buffer tube for A2 stock (partially and install buffer retainer pin in the lower). Screw it in so retaining pin moves

freely(just close to the narrow part ). Install the rear retaining detent and spring(and the take down pin) and put the stock in. Remember to drop the tube extension(but cap spacer) into the stock and tighten the rear upper screw snug. I assume that you have complete butt stock with the door installed. That's all here is schematic diagram for total rifle.
