I've never owned a Springfield Optic, but the general consensus around here seems to be that they are of sub-par quality (parts manufactured by Hakko?).  Maybe someone will respond with a better answer...

I have one. On mine the reticle broke, it started to rotate within the scope. Springfield fixed it under warranty but I have not used it since. I guess otherwise it was/is okay, the reticle is a little too fine for my tastes.

Every SA scope I've checked out, the bubble level was off.

The adjustments are not 100% accurate ( meaning the box shooting test fails with these scopes ).

That 56mm objective is frickin' huge!!  Meaning the optic has to be as high as you can get it, meaning you might need a cheek piece for a proper cheek weld, but that's more personal preference, YMMV.

The glass pretty much sucks.

On the bright side, their customer service is pretty good and quick.  And it's a good thing, 'cause a lot of people seem to need the service

A buddy of mine bought a Gen III about the same time I decided to sell mine.  His reticle broke free after about a box of .308 through his 700P.  Springfield had it fixed and back to him in about 2 weeks, so that was nice.  The scope went on eBay as soon as he got it back.

The non accurate adjustments and glass clarity were the main reasons I sold mine.  I actually liked the gov reticle, some don't, but I found it very easy to use.

The SA scopes are over priced.  There are better options.  For as much as the SA cost, you can save up a little extra and get a superior quality US made Leupold.

I have 2.  but they're older ones and I've heard not so good things about the newer ones.

to do it all over again, I'd go with a Leupold, IOR or Night Force (pricey!)

That seems to be the general concensus

I've had mine for 8 years or so and have run a couple thousand of .308 rounds through it without a single problem of any type.
