| I have a Spikes Tactical lower that has been sitting in the safe, until today, when I tried to swap it with the PSA blemished lower I have on my 6.8 SPC. I figured it would be higher-quality and better for that particulare gun and, since I was working on a beater gun, the PSA would be better suited for that purpose. Anyway, I went to swap out triggers and the RRA NM 2-stage I attempted to install into the Spikes would not go past the first stage unless I really squeezed it hard (even then it only dropped the hammer half the time, or so). I thought maybe I was doing something wrong so I took it out and re-installed it but had the same problem, it just would not engage the 2nd stage and drop the hammer. I put it back in the PSA lower and it works perfect. I put the PSA single-stage into the Spikes and it, too works perfectly. The 2-stage just doesn't want to work in the Spikes lower! Is there some sort of tolerance that is off to cause this? I have installed a dozen or so triggers, and never seen this particular problem. Guess I will just have to run the Spikes on my beater gun but I hate to do it since it is, otherwise, a very nice lower and I like to keep my hunting-caliber AR's in nice condition. |

I think youre going to need to cut the Spikes up with a band saw. Is the rear of the trigger hitting the selector maybe? Can you see anything binding that might be causing it? I thought about it for a second!
The trigger is hitting the selector, that is the issue. I don't think the lower was machined quite enough. |

Did you swap the safety selector also? Try that if you haven't already. I've seen a few RRA 2-stage triggers that needed to be relieved slightly at the top rear, the engagement at the safety selector was too heavy for it to pull far enough to release the hammer. That is interesting, I was wondering about that... Yes, I swapped selectors this morning and the issue is still the same. I will take the lower back to where I bought it, they are pretty good to deal with. Thanks, everyone, for the info. I had just never seen this before and was curious if anyone else had. |

Don' bother in my opinion... I had the exact same problem I think.... I had a spikes with a NM and the pins were hard to get in.
The for example the KNS National Match RRA pins are DIA .1555 - Look here at the pull down window for sizes and read the text. So I believe NM pins are .1555 Standard is .154 DIA. I got mine in eventually in with a spikes.. but it was awfully tight. What im trying to say is... its the PINS not the lower I think. Measure the pins ya? Ive used .154 dia pins in a national match just fine also. Function checked... everything worked great. |

...... No issues. Let's not bash either. ... Quoted:
..... Is there some sort of tolerance that is off to cause this? .... Yes: A positional tolerance for a .154 DIA pin could possibly cause issues when using .1555 DIA NM pin. No bashing.. everything is in spec for both company's.... but its an diametrical interference by definition in 2 locations. For kicks.. swap your hammer pin only with a mil spec .154dia pin and do a function check. |

Any update? Sorry, I went away for a while and didn't check this thread. I ended up trying my S3G trigger in the Spikes and it worked great, so I went with that configuration and left the RRA in the PSA lower. I think it might be something in the RRA trigger, there is a lot of creep in it and it is really sloppy. I haven't had time to dig into it, though. Thanks, for the suggestions, everyone, I apprecaite it. |
