Can anyone recommend a good custom upper?  Here are some specs that are important:
- 1:7 twist in 5.56
- chrome lined
- M4 feeds
- different options for handguards
- flat top upper

This is to be mounted on a custom Spikes lower...

Thanks in advanced!

BCM, DD, Spike's, PSA, etc. Just stay away from companies like Radical Firearms.

What is the "custom" you are speaking of specifically?

Yeah, sorry, its not really custom.  I grabbed a stripped lower and put in my own parts from various vendors like Magpul, Battel Arms, etc.  So it's not really custom i guess.

Im really just looking for a shop like BCM who would take my choice of barrel, gas black, upper, etc and build a complete upper for me.  Sorry if Im not explaining this right.  It seems that when I go to some of these sites, they only have their completed uppers which have one or more parts that I dont want on my upper.

You can build it. It isn't hard.

I'm just not sure I want to deal with headspace issues with the barrel and the BCG.

That isn't an issue for the most part.  It's really easy.

Adco will assemble an upper. They sell the parts too, but not the biggest selection. Good stuff though.

That's a pretty common set of requirements.
You don't need to pony up the $$$ to have someone 'create' (read assemble) a 'custom' upper for you.

As far as the headspace issues you are worried about, chances are mighty slim as long as you
buy the bolt along with the barrel.  (I've been doing AR's for over 20 years and have only seen headspace issues
three times.  Once with a new a barrel and bolt from different manufacturers and twice with surplus 'parts-kits')

FWIW you could buy an 'off-the-shelf'' upper that meets your specs including BCG + headspace gauges + assembly tools
for less than what most of the 'custom' assemblers will gladly pocket.

What exactly is custom about the Spike's lower you have?  (Nevermind.  I see above)

ETA: Here's a deal http://damageindustries.co/index.php?route=product/product&path=124&product_id=452
doesn't have the chrome lining in the barrel just some 'melonite' crap.
