I have spent most of today reading this forum and searching the internet.

I have to date, focused on Retro AR-15s.   Recently however I purchased a S&W MP-15T.

I would like a light on it, and it looks like SureFire is the way to go

Question: Can someone just tell me in no uncertain terms what a simple setup would be?   SIMPLE light, and SIMPLE mounts.

From what I can tell... maybe a 6P? with plain old Rifle scope mounts?   Maybe a Z2 Combatlight?  again... with rifle mounts?

I am also having a hard time understanding the difference in all of these materials... like, the G2 in Nitrolon... how is that compared to the 6P in aluminum?  I had originally (before today) figured on a G2.

I was going to go with a Surefire 6P in a 1" scope ring for my 15T. It's fairly lightweight, simple, and inexpensive. Then I got a great deal on a Surefire X300. It's still simple, a little (OK, a lot) more expensive, and way lighter.

If you already have a G2, drop it in a 1" ring and go to town. If you want to go with a 6P, try to get the LED version, or get a Malkoff drop in LED.

If you plan on shooting much farther than 25-30 yards, you may want to go with a higher output light.

Get a Surefire 6P with the Surefire barrel/FSB clamp mount. You can also run a tape switch to your hand guards. It would be more retro style if you ask me.

Contact Kevin at BrightFashlights and tell him what you want/need and even if you don't buy it from him, he will be more than happy to help you find a solution for your light needs.
