I would like to do some 600 yard (and possibly 1000 yards) match shooting with my Bushmaster Varminter.  I have the option of using a Bausch & Lomb 4-16x50mm Rifle Scope ~Elite 4000~.  

What are your thoughts on this?  

Is there a scope you could recommend for this distance shooting and economical?  I know I need to pay for good optics... but I just dont have the extra cash for a second hobby.  AR15 match shooting (200, 300 and 600yards iron sights) is my first.

That scope should be fine for 600. 1000 yards is another ball game. Get good at 600 and then go to 1000. You are a more important factor than the scope.
