[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Scope mount

I just put a Bushmaster XM15 complete upper on a M&P15 lower. The upper has a detachable carry handle. I'm thinking of adding a mount that fits into the carry handle. So far I'm leaning towards the Leupold Mark 4 AR15/M16 Handle Mount.

Any thoughts?? Not quite sure how this.......^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^was turned into a link.

If the carry handle is removable, why not just get a "normal" mount that would allow for a better cheek weld?

If you are mounting on top of a carry handle, you are doing it wrong.

It has the front sight. Thats why I'm asking, to learn. This is my first build.

I'd personally pull the carry handle and mount the scope directly to the upper using a quick detach mount like the Burris P.E P.R. Palmetto had them on sale a few days ago for $59, you might keep an eye on the site

What scope do you plan on using? If it has pretty much any magnification (3x for example), you will just a faint ghosting of the front sight. At higher magnification, you will not see the front sight at all.

Like the others said pull the carry handle and sell it. only thing I'll add is buy a flip up rear sight, that way if anything happens to the optic you can pull it off and still run irons.
