I'm a bit uninformed when it comes to scopes. I have a 20" AR with a YHM light weight FF tube. I usually just punch paper at 100' to 200'. I'm looking for a decent scope to use for this and maybe up to 300'. I was thinking of something like a variable 4-10 x 40 or 50. I'm looking to spend less than $200, but it's not set in stone. What do you guys recommend and why. What about either of these. WEAVER V9 3-9X50MM $189 www.natchezss.com/category.cfm?contentID=productDetail&brand=SN&category=20&prodID=SN849403&CFID=1351888&CFTOKEN=63620339 BURRIS FULLFIELD II SCOPE 3-9X40 $189 www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=BU200162PKG Thanks for your help guys. |

I'd get a Nikon: Nikon Buckmaster 2-9x40 eta - don't buy cheapy scope rings. Millette rings are decent |
| I have the burris fullfield II, the only problem is it isn't mounted on anything yet so it isn't much help to you. It isn't mounted because I really wasn't in the market for the scope but I couldn't pass up the price so I bought it. I have other burris scopes and they work well and have pretty good glass for the price. My vote goes to Burris because I have experience with them. |

That's a good deal on the Burris. Plus you get a free spotting scope with it. SWFA has the Weaver for $150. I have both scopes. I like the BP reticle on the Burris better, but either will do fine for a good starter scope. |

Thanks for the suggestions so far, what about the VX-1 series from Leupold? Leupold VX-1 from Cabela's |
