I'm a bit uninformed when it comes to scopes.  I have a 20" AR with a YHM light weight FF tube.  I usually just punch paper at 100' to 200'.  I'm looking for a decent scope to use for this and maybe up to 300'.   I was thinking of something like a variable 4-10 x 40 or 50.  I'm looking to spend less than $200, but it's not set in stone.

What do you guys recommend and why.  What about either of these.

WEAVER V9 3-9X50MM $189

BURRIS FULLFIELD II SCOPE  3-9X40  $189

Thanks for your help guys.

I'd get a Nikon:
Nikon Buckmaster 2-9x40

eta - don't buy cheapy scope rings.  Millette rings are decent

I have the burris fullfield II, the only problem is it isn't mounted on anything yet so it isn't much help to you.  It isn't mounted because I really wasn't in the market for the scope but I couldn't pass up the price so I bought it.   I have other burris scopes and they work well and have pretty good glass for the price.  My vote goes to Burris because I have experience with them.

That's a good deal on the Burris.  Plus you get a free spotting scope with it.

SWFA has the Weaver for $150.

I have both scopes.  I like the BP reticle on the Burris better, but either will do fine for a good starter scope.

I think I will just wait a little longer and get the SS, that's what I really wanted anyways.  I just don't have patience sometimes.

I would recommend the Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40 mildot. It is a great scope for the money, built like a tank, and fits your budget. They are on sale at Natchezzs for $165 shipped with a coupon for a free $99 range bag. I love mine.
