When you pay for the SBR stamp, is that for the receiver and you can have multiple SBR uppers for it. Or, is it registered as a complete rifle with one upper. I think with FAs you can have different uppers as it's the lower thats registered. Also, do you have to have the SBR registered before actually getting a SBR upper? TIA

The lower is the registered part. When filling out the paperwork, submit it for any caliber you might ever use with that lower so you can use uppers in various calibers and configurations.

This is highly advisable. People have been prosecuted for having short barreled uppers and AR15 lowers, even when they weren't attached.

For similar reasons, it might be a good idea to have the description of the weapon on the paperwork reflect all the calibers and lengths that you have.
