There is no "get both" option?
Obviously get both, but if you can't, I think high speed, low drag, is a more effective tool. If you're building this as a grown up toy, do whichever is more fun! |

I prefer the retro look myself (with xm607 handguards). Obviously it's up to you. Cost will probably be your deciding factor as you can easily almost double the cost of a high speed rifle with all of the aftermarket goodies.

I prefer high speed low drag, but to this day the coolest suppressed SBR I've ever seen was a standard A2 11.5" with a big old can hanging off the end.
I still have to vote for the high speed, low drag route though. |

I vote LMT 10.5 upper with a RAS rail or LaRue 7.0 Rail for the High Speed & Low Drag look. [

that brake has gotten a lot of pub in the last few months, which is interesting since it isn't a new concept at all. I just find it very difficult to warm up to the thing as it looks heavy as hell and seem over-built. But I suppose for practical functionality - it works and can save your team members from unpleasant concussion |

I voted Retro…
The HSLD stuff is very cool and all, but at least for me, I go shooting out in the forest in big mud pits. Killing tin cans at 75-100-yards doesn’t require a scope that cost more than the rifle or a laser or a VLTOR stock with extra batteries for the flashlight or… Well, you get the point. I like the idea of a hybrid between the two. Use as few accessories as possible, and use the most sublime combination of components. A regular lightweight barrel with a regular FSB, but using a DD float rail and a SureFire light. A Crane stock, TangoDown VFG and pistol grip, but not necessarily an optic. The possibilities are limitless.
