Saw that coming a mile away.  Why would Sportsman's Guide be able to get the SA surplus when no one else could?

This really stinks. It stinks even more if they do ship the 2700rd. battlepacks. Sort of like saying "Ooops. We figured out we could make more money by gouging for the 2700rd. pack, so we'll just cancel the smaller orders."

[pissed]

The 2700rd. pack isn't a bargain by any stretch of the imagination. Guess I'll have to scour the gunshow again for Q3131A. If I had known this was going to happen, I would've bought more at the BPS sale a few weeks ago.

Like Troy said, Everybody who looked in the ammo forum 6? months ago knew about SA being gone for good.  Even someone from South Africa came on here and said no more would be shipped here.  I was semi-lucky because once I heard that I ordered 30 packs.  Should have ordered more. [:)]

Q3131a is now the answer.  Plus it is reloadable whereas the old SA battlepack ammo wasn't.

The stuff at Cole's is the same commercial/SAAMI-loaded ammo, and not the old, M193-spec battlepacks.

As I was trying to tell everyone a year ago, the battlepacks are gone, or close enough that the prices aren't cheap enough to chose 20 year old surplus over brand new M193.

Botach has Q3131A (Izzy M193) for $0.15 per round.  I'm getting my shipment in the next few days.

It's about the price of the SA battlepacks and much better quality (and newer) ammo.

My rule with Botach is to do everything on the phone and make sure it's in stock.  Doing that and I've had zero problems on some pretty significant orders.

At any rate, I talked to Albi last week and he said that they had the Izzy ammo stacked up to the ceiling.  Apparently they just have a shitload of it.

I'll hopefully be getting mine today or tomorrow and will try and report back.  The M193 was $189 (S/H included) for 1200 rounds, which is actually $0.16 per round.

Keep in mind this is new production M193.  This is the same stuff that Winchester sells as Q3131A.  My current stash ammo is Q3131A and is great ammo.  I've heard that Lake City might be a tad faster, but you'd need a chrono to tell.
