Okay guys, I made the mistake of storing my guns in the attic for a while, and when I looked at them the other day they had some rust spots on the AKs...none on the ARs. My question is, after the rust is removed, is there still a problem, or are they as good as new?

I recently bought a gun safe and am going all out with the storage accessories. I just wanted to know if there is any permanent damage to the rifles or  not.

It all depends on how bad the rust is.If the metal is pitted then it is damaged.
If its surface rust and cleans up with little to no stain your o.k. I'd say.
Just make sure to keep the weapons maintained and a film of oil or CLP on all parts.

well any rust there is surface damage.

If you cant see the pits when you remove the rust, just coat with clp or rig grease or cosmoline.

If you getting safe add a golden rod, they work for pennys a day on power.

Flitz works great for rust removal on blued surfaces.

Bronze brushes and clp works on rougher surfaces finishes.
