Hello,

I have an RRA with two forward sling mounts.  One is the standard bottom mount and the other is the side sling adapter.  Can anyone tell me how to remove them?  I plan to remove just one of the two but would like to know how to remove both if possible.

Thanks!

I find it hard to believe that nobody knows how to do this...  Should I be posting this in a forum other than discussions?  Help please.

The build it yourself section would have been better, but its good anywhere. If you take a punch and place it in the hole where the rivit is set and take a hammer it should punch it through. I've done it before and it works..

Maybe you just asked a dumb question?  [{:)]

Seriously though, I would like to know also.  I would like to remove the original one and add a side sling adaptor.  Pretty silly having two.

Lawman, thanks for the reply.  I'll give that a try.

JBritt, DOH! ...it seems silly to me to have two sling mounts also.

I also have taken the correct sized punch and simply driven out the rivet with a hammer.  No big deal.  If that doesn't do it you could drill out the rivet first, but I have not found that to be necessary.  Watch-Six

I just took a Dremel and cut the rivet and sling loop in the center...took about 5 seconds.  To remove the side sling adaptor...just tap out the 2 roll pins on the right hand side of the sight tower.

If you carefully drive the rivet out with a drift or punch, you can re-use both pieces. I have transplanted my "extra" sling loops on a couple of peoples uppers that didn't have them. [;)]

Yep. Just a standard punch and a light hammer, two strokes and the rivet was gone. No big deal at all.
