I own both a Colt CNM HBAR 20" and a Bushy M4 16". I want to know a couple of things; First should I go with Specialized Armaments heavy duty Green Extractor spring (will this go in my Colt and Bushy?) Which color insert black or blue?, or get a "D-Fender instead (or Both?). Should I stall the McFarland one piece gas ring in both? Are the extractors on both these rifles interchangable? I haven't had any problems really so are these items truely upgrades or gimmicks? Thanks for all your help over the past year.

if it's not broke, don't "fix" it!!

If you haven't had any problems, what are you trying to fix?

You can purchase the items if you like, to give you that warm an fuzzy feeling in case you do have a problem down the road.

To answer your questions

you can use extractor springs in both (Wolff Gunsprings also sells extra power extractor springs)

I believe insert color doesn't really matter, they were only used to determine strength of extractor springs ie blue for rifle, black for carbine when Colt was doing R&D

D-fender or Crane O rings will definately help with extraction

Many believe the McFarland one piece gas rings are a solution in search of a problem.

extractors are interchangeable
