Just put this 10.5 together for a local customer with a DD9.0 with a shaved gas block. Thought it turned out pretty nice and I like Daniel Defense new look with the new lock ring and numbers all around. Nice improvements IMHO

Back up- New locking ring? I must have missed threads on that info. Sounds like DD is catching up to Larue. Is it still lighter weight than LR too?

No kidding. I just scoured this place looking for info and didn't find any. Are these rings that lock in place or are they just the regular ring with a different outer shape? If they are new rings that lock in place can they be retro fit on to older models? |

Will the shaved gas block fit completely under a Larue 12.0 with a CAR length gas system? How much are the shaved gas blocks? I like the idea of the taper pins holding on the gas block instead of the set screws on the Larue low pro gas block. Not that I have had any issues with the Larue I just think the pins are stronger. |

Sorry, no locking system ala LaRue. Same ring, just different shape.
The gas block is one off, don't know that I could make one fit under a LaRue without more major surgery. It's possible I'm sure, just takes more time and money... ETA, the LaRue gas block installed properly should do just fine but this customer preferred the pinned GB. The DD friction ring works well and rarely has loosening problems with loctite. It can happen, but usually doesn't. They are working on putting their AR10 locking system on AR15 forends. J |
