THE MILITARY MEASURES A BARREL DIFFERENTLY THAN WE CIVILIANS DO. THEY MEASURE THE WHOLE DAMN THING, TO INCLUDE THE BARREL EXTENSION. WE MEASURE FROM THE FACE OF THE BOLT TO THE MUZZLE.
OUR NUMBERS COME UP 1/2 INCH SHORTER THAN THEIRS. WES GRANT M.S.T.N. |

So a 14.5" is 14" by civie measurements? Was '14.5"' measurement kept for marketing purposes? And the 20" is 19.5"?

I APOLOGIZE FOR MY BLANKET STATEMENT BEING NOT TOTALLY CORRECT. NO, THE 14.5", 16", AND 20" ARE INDEED CORRECT B.A.T.F. MEASUREMENTS.

Wes is absolutely right, that's how a barrel is "supposed" to be measured, with the bolt closed, insert a (cleaning) rod into the muzzle end until it bottoms out, mark the muzzle end spot on this rod, The total length from one end to this mark is the barrel length. |
