The optic is an ELCAN - which is an awesom optic, very rugged and very clear, developed for the Canadian military (for the M16/Deimaco C7.) The little thing immediately in front of the ELCAN is the Diemaco BUIS. |
Where does one acquire a Diemaco BUIS, and do you use it in that forward position, or does it get moved back upon removal of the ELCAN? I've only seen a few pictures, and those were from the side. |
If the ELCAN breaks, you'd move the BUIS to the rear of the receiver (where the regular AR iron sights sit). I just mount it on the rifle so I don't lose it. Unfortunately, I do not know of any place that sells the Diemaco BUIS |

Not a rifle but it is a RRA http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y11/tec15/IM000082.jpg |
Canadian Army look-a-like? |
Actually, I used to have the ELCAN and BUIS on a 20" AR with flat-top. THAT was my full-blown Diemaco C-7 look-alike. But then I liked my new midlength SO much, that I put the best optic I had on it, which was the ELCAN - so now it's not really a look-alike of anything, just a nice set-up. |
| Here is my recently assembled (I won't say finished) first build. Bought the Rock River lower complete at a gun show. CMT upper, bolt carrier, charge handle, and 16"GTS Recon barrel came from Denny's Guns.Topped it off with Yankee Hill Machine flip up sights. I recently added a Bushnell red dot(Not enough funds left for EOtech). Went to the range 2 weeks ago and it will shoot into 2.5 inches offhand at 25 yards. Haven't been further than that yet but I will soon.http://http://www.hunt101.com/img/284026.JPG" border=0> |
