I have a new 6x45 AR upper I am starting to play with and wanted ask a favor of someone with Quickload. I was looking through powder profiles and see that AA2460 seems to have a really good possibility in this cartridge but would rather not blow my face off. The catch is that Accurate doesnt list this powder with this cartridge. Could someone with QL could run the numbers for me I'd appreciate it. The specs are as follows:
LC09 brass at 1.75 inches with 30.4 grains of water 20" 5R barrel 85 grain Sierra BTHP and Nosler partitions seated to 2.26 Wolf SRM primers Thanks in advance. Also I ask this with the complete understanding that it is purely theoretical and hold you harmless of any issues I could encounter. |

Please be aware that QL is often wrong more than it is right so with an unknown be very careful with your starting load.
You need to check the lands to make sure you can actually load these bullets at 2.26 COL. If they are jammed you will get high pressure. These are max loads so work up. AA2460 85 HPBT 2.26 COL 20" bbl 24.5 gr 54920 psi 101.4 % fill 2694 fps AA2460 85 partition 2.26 COL 20" bbl 24.9 gr 54400 psi 100.1 % fill 2701 fps W748 or BLC-2 looks better at around 2770, both slightly compressed. |
| Thanks much Tammons. I completely understand the possibility of pressures spiking if I load them long. Wondering why it seems AA2460 is slower than BL-C since it shows on a few burn lists as being faster than it? One more request, you I can Tammons, what was the max thoeretical loading before pressure was higher than safe? And I will state again for the record, I ALWAYS start low and work up so I will not attempt to shoot right for the max loading. |
