I bought a slightly used one today at the fun show, but it didn't come with instructions of any kind, and I can't figure out how to remove the rib panels, or how to mount it correctly.  I am more worried about damaging it than anything else, so I didn't experiment with it too much before logging on.

Any help would be appreciated.

OK, I got the panels off, but I still can't slide the larger portion of the RAS under the handguard retention ring.

Remove the screw at the rear that retains the hook. Allow the hook to hang loose and lower the RAS onto the rifle while you hold the delta ring back. Make sure the hook slips over the gas tube and then under the barrel nut. After everything is in place, put the screw back in and make it real tight. Some loctite wouldn't hurt.
Hope that helps.

FYI Quarterbores page www.quarterbore.com is an excellent KAC info resource...

and KAC's website www.knightarmco.com is getting better.

I got the RAS, three 11-rib panels, a side sling adaptor, and handguard removal tool for just under $375, including tax.

Hmm seems a bit high to me for a used system with the side sling adaptor. New RAS units go for around $300...

Used RAS:  $250
Three rib panels:  $45
Side sling adaptor:  $30
Handguard removal tool:  $20

He charged me tax because I had to use my debit card, otherwise the total would have been $345.

Considering how bad the rest of the show was, I was happy with this deal.

Just so you know the RAS comes with three panels! So you paid retail for for the RAS. The sling mount is a fair price...

That is a little diff. situation. KAC lowered their price and came up with that package deal. They have NOT discounted the RAS/RIS as of yet.......

Ouch. he hosed ya on the panels. what a dog. I picked mine up from a fellow poster at lightfighter, it was nint witth 3 panels for $250.

if it makes ya feel any better, I saw a guy at a fun show awhile back with a Used RAS with the VFG and he was asking $450. I laughed when he told me the price. takes all kinds. but you'll be happy with it. good solid piece of kit that will serve you well.
