Hi,

Not too sure what your after exactly and the search function doesnt seem to yield anything but im assuming IR laser ?

Dont know if this is any good to you but i have a 90mw IR laser. Its focusable from .1 to 5 degrees. Laser is nice and bright and can easily be seen 200 yards+ (dont have the distance to test further at my house) with both my old D300 Gen2+ and my new GT14 Gen2SHP.

Im not too sure if theres any legal issues importing it into the US but youd have more of an idea than i would :)

Its not particularly cheap but its taken the UK NV scene by storm. Link should you need it is here:

http://www.nightvisionsupplies.co.uk/Illuminators.htm

If you need any more info or indeed any through the tube pics i could provide them for you later if you wish ?

Best regards,

Dave.

Dave,

The Wolverine's are aiming lasers, not illuminators.  That link is pretty interesting though; the 90mW unit shows adjustability of beam direction and 0.1 degree (6 MOA) minimum beam field, so I guess that it could conceivably be used for aiming.  Have you tried it for that purpose?  225 quid is indeed not exactly inexpensive.  Do you happen to know where the units are manufactured?

Hi,

To be honest ive never used it to aim as its only fitted to my NV/dayscope combination (on .22LR and .17HMR) but i dont see why not. Depends what sort of distance you would conceiveably need to aim at a target (man sized?). Like i said, im fairly limited on stuff to aim at in my garden but i can see and point it at a roof at approx 180yards. If i had the rifle, calibre and the need to engage a man sized target at that distance i would be more than happy to take the shot :)

I know exactly where you coming from regarding the pricing of it, not the best time to be buying from the UK with the exchange rates as they are (im not complaining though ;)).

Im certain they are manufactured in one of the old Eastern block countries (it has the same body as the rigel Optics illuminator if that helps?)

Ill take a couple of pics later so you can see how it performs.

Best regards,

Dave.

Looking forward to the pics.  Many of the Brits that I work with who are paid in USD are complaining about the exchange rate, but at least they have good jobs here versus scratching an unemployed ass.

Hi,

It shouldnt really have a big impact on any Brits over there, from what ive heard the cost of living is relatively low compared to here ? Id happily take a drop in wages to live over with you guys, its getting kind of sucky over here :(

Unemployment is really that bad, like most places if you want to work you can. Unfortunately theres a lot of people quite happy to sit back and milk the system. Its only these maggots you hear about in the news.

Ive actually looked on the web for information on applying for citizenship but fear a 33yr old UK soldier (communications background) with family doesnt really have a lot to offer :( Im still holding out on my lottery win though :D

Any particular shots you want later ? Was thinking along the lines of 180ish yards at x1 and x10 and 50ish again on same mags ? Let me know and ill see what i can do.

Regards,

Dave.

We are digressing pretty substantially from the OP's topic, but where the exchange rate comes into play is folks sending money back across the pond; I don't have alot of pitty for them...earned here should be spent here.  You are right about the lower cost of living though, it is essentially dollar for pound, depending on geographic region.

Please take some good pics to show us what the unit can do.

Sorry for crapping on your thread; Dave did at least offer what he thought to be an alternative.  Hopefully, Tim will gets parts moving again soon enough.
