[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Problems : Centerfire Systems Retro Kit barrel

I received one of Centerfire Systems Colt retro kits. All seemed fine and my gunsmith said the barrel was chrome lined. The problem was the gas hole was in the wrong place. So it was sent back and a new barrel was received. This one was not chrome lined and again the gas hole was in the wrong place. The gunsmith called and informed Centerfire of the problem. After checking he got a call form Centerfire. It seems that they have quite a few barrels with improperly drilled gas holes. After more inquiring the Smith got the impression that these barrels are indeed seconds, although it was never stated by Centerfire. It is a nice kit and all the other parts are fine. So BEWARE, have your barrel checked out by a competent gunsmith before you start pulling your hair out. P.S The third barrel is on its way, so I will keep everyone posted.

Sorry to hear that. There's been a lot of that going around with Centerfire. They've had some serious quality issues with builds too; especially their HK33 clones.

Both of those products come from Century, so it's really not Centerfires fault.

How they deal with the returns and/or replacements will show what kind of company they are.

I've had good experiences with them standing behind products, but i'm local, so i've always been able to deal with those issues in person.

I was skeptical that theirs are the only barrels out there in the white that are chrome lined. They insist that they are.

OP - if nothing else, maybe you could have them credit you for the barrel so you could shop for one elsewhere. With the inflated pices some retro barrels are bringing these days, the rest of the kit ought to cost around $100!
