I have a Preban PWA with the 11.5-5.5 barrel flash hider combo and was out the other day and decided to try the bump fire technique that was described here a while back. It worked great for about 6 rounds then it would quit. There would be a live shell in the chamber but the gun would not be cocked. To fire again, I would have to pull the charging handle to chamber another round, which of course cocked it again and the same thing would happen after 5 or 6 rounds. Can anyone tell me why this would happen? Thanks in advance. Ed |

How could it possibly be a mag problem when the bolt and carrier recoiled with the last shot and when it returned forward, a shell was stripped from the mag and pushed into the chamber, just like it is supposed to. I then tried to pull the trigger and the gun was not cocked????? This has me bumfuzzled. If the carrier goes to the rear far enough to eject the spent casing and go into battery with a new round, should it have not cocked the hammer back. HELP |

I can consistantly empty a mag in one pull at 600-650rpm. My AR runs a little faster than my AK (SLR-95) probably due to less reciprocating mass. What you described used to happen frequently on my AK especially. You did not mention if the primer was dimpled or not. There seems to be a "dead spot" on most semis when rapid firing that will release the hammer at just the right instant to let it ride back on the round with the bolt instead of "slamming" into it after the bolt seats. The way I stopped these "misfires" was to keep a steady forward pull while firing and be consistant each time like you were syncronizing each shot. I am probably not explaining this well, its much easier to show than describe. |
