If you zero with a particular grain ammo, how much diff is there in point of impact at 100 yds, 200 yds. Say you zero with 75 grains then shoot 68 and 55? |

too many variables involved. I've found, out of my barrels, under ideal conditions (little to no wind) that the POI between RORG 62gr, and M193 55gr. at 100yds is usually little more than an inch or two (55gr, impacting higher). you'll have to shoot the loads through your barrel, at your range, with you behind the trigger to determine how this effects you. FWIW: a buddy of mine recently went to the range with his Remington 700 LSS in .270 for some plinking/sighting in at 100yds. Rifle was sighted in using Winchester superX Silvertip 130gr. Buddy loads a Winchester Ballistic Silvertip Supreme 130gr. and proceeds to hit 12" lower on the target. Next round, same thing, but 1/4" to the right (jerked it a bit). Eventually, we zero his rifle with the BSS and I instructed him to leave the scope where it was (now sighted with the load) before he went deer hunting. bullets do some funny things while traveling downrange. trigger nuts are all different. like I said before, you'll need to sit down and figure this out for your specific rifle. |
