Anyone using these things? Love the feel of em, was looking at the 13" to put on my carbine, slim feel, longer sight radius, all that good stuff. Pics of your setups? Or point me in the direction of a pic thread that may exist?

It's without a doubt, the best, lighest, and most comfortable rail I have ever shot with. That is just my experience with it. That, and it looks damn fine on a 10.5'' SBR IMO.

Lol I finally found a configuration that I love. Just ordered a PA micro dot and a good light is all that im missing for a complete set up.
Link Posted: 10/15/2013 12:22:34 PM EST
now when one orders these, it comes with everything you need to put it on right? pretty much all you need is the tube (and the mounting hardware it should come with) and a low pro gas block correct?

You get the tube, mounting hardware, hex key wrenches, and modular rails to install at your discretion. As for the lo-pro gas block, you have to buy that seperate. I went with a standard micro gas block from Yankee Hill Manufacturing. Haven't had any problems with it.

you guys pretty happy with how sturdy they are? watching some install vids and seems like they could be quite flimsy. Maybe it's different when they're installed, but from here, it looks like it wouldn't take much to knock that off...

Rock. Solid.

I absolutely love the one I have on my 3 gun rifle. It's stable, easy to install, durable, and well made. However, I will never purchase another Troy product, so I'll be looking for a suitable substitute on my next rifle.

Mine feels pretty strongly secured. I also used Loctite on the screws.

I agree with 59Bassman. I love mine too, but I would rather support someone else. Too bad really, but there are plenty to choose from I'm sure I'll find something. Oh and that stock is a Larue RAT.

I believe it's from larue tactical

I run the TRX-308 13.8 on my 308 and have had zero issues. It stays rock solid and my front BUS has held zero after almost 1,000 rounds thus far.

The recent political miscues aside, these are great rails. I have two and they are easy to install, solid, light, and comfortable. The only change I'd like to them is slightly lower profile rail sections with lighter mounting hardware.

Here is a 15" Troy/VTAC Alpha Rail in ATACS-FG. I prefer the long oval cutouts in the VTAC rail over the round cutouts in the Troy Alpha rail (I have both).

Similarly, here's a Troy-VTAC Delta rail on my 9mm AR.

Is that a 9" rail?
Question, what is what adapter at the end of the sling called to get the sling attached to the Troy Alpha rail?

Yup that's a 9" Alpha over a 16" midlength barrel.

I used this to attach the sling to the rail. But one of the rail panels that comes with the rail also has a QD socket in it.

13" Alpha with sight duracoated Magpul OD green. I really like this rail. I like how you can add rail sections anywhere if you need them but they aren't always there and uncomfortable where you don't need them. I have the 13" Alpha w/out sight on a 9mm AR and at first I had problems with it rotating. There is a tab that makes contact with the upper and keeps it rotating in one direction but only the tightness of the screws and friction against the barrel nut keep it from rotating in the other direction (bad design in my opinion). After really cranking down the screws and adding loctite I haven't noticed any more problems with it rotating. But when it did....it took my sight with it so even a little rotation throws the sight way off.

I know the thread is mostly dead and its slightly off topic but I need to know. What low profile gas blocks are some of you running that fit underneath the rail? I'm fixing to order a gas block and want a good one that will fit. Thanks!

I trimmed down my front sight gas block so I wouldn't have to worry about not getting a new gas block installed correctly. It was pinned on, solid, worked fine and didn't want to risk messing that up. It took a while with a dremel but the end result is nice. I simply put the barreled upper in a vice block and went to work on it. Didn't remove the sight, barrel or even the gas tube. Painted the new exposed metal with black high temp grill paint.

11.5" DD barrel with a 11" Troy Alpha. I might have to do some modification in order to get the Specwar suppressor to mount. (If and when the form 4 comes back, six months so far)

For the question about gas blocks: I bought the barrel with the DD gas block pinned already, no clearance issues.
