So I'm building my first AR and I' just finished the lower and I'm starting the upper.  I've been looking at just about every website and store around me comparing prices and products and PSA has consistently offered the cheapest price but still provides a quality product.  Has anybody ever had a bad experience  with PSA or a particular product because I can't justify not buying parts right now for a run of the mill basic reliable AR.  Any thoughts or advice for a first time builder?

Had about 8 of their uppers. All different configurations.

All excellent quality. You're good to go.

Great products but be prepared to wait.  I've had a few times where they forgot to include some items I ordered but they were good about resolving it.

If you don't feel like waiting for an upper. Aimsurplus has midlength PSA uppers in stock. 16" FN CHF 1-7 twist barrels.

Just ordered mine for $310 shipped.

i've ordered a decent amount from PSA in the past year.  The uppers I have ordered have all functioned great, and actually shipped within a week.

Recently ran into my first problem where they only shipped 1/2 of what was on the packing list - but a quick call to customer service hopefully fixed it.  Sending out the missing portion of my order in 5-14 business days (fix-it ticket).  Didn't stop me from ordering another BCG, parts and 2 more blem lowers w/ free shipping though.

The only negative I have to say about PSA is they are SLOW at shipping. Quite a few orders to base this off of, Not just what I v'e heard from other posts. But I hear they are coming around to speed up the shipping. Haven't ordered anything from them for a few months though. Keep us all posted

PSA is great place to get an AR15 mil spec and on a budget.
My 3 FN cold hammer forged uppers have no issue.
Their classic lpk, 7075 rcvr ext. tube, and premium bolt carrier group
are great too.

According to PSA CS they are working with new software system that should speed things up soon.

That being said if you are patient u will be happy with them. I have used them almost exclusively and have always been happy. They split ship things once in a while. P I have built 5 rifles with them and a bunch of ammo. 100% satisfied customer

Only problems with PSA are the slow processing/shipping times.  Other than that, I've had great luck with them.

I almost have to be further from them and never have had anything take that long from them. But I have read a lot of people complain about slow shipping times, but hey like everyone else says, Quality - Quick - Cheap. Pick 2.

PSA called me yesterday with a question about my order and said they were processing orders that had been placed on the 14th and 15th so that gives you an idea of their backup at the moment.

Thanks for the good info guys.  It took about a week and a half for most of my stuff to ship but I'm in no hurry so it doesn't bother me too much.  Also keeps me from blowing my whole paycheck all at once so it actually kind of works out but thanks for the advice guys I appreciate it

I too have had good experiences with PSA.  And for a comparison, my wife and I recently had to wait 2 weeks for an in stock dishwasher to be delivered and installed because of a backlog of installations.  This stuff happens now and then in every market, and PSA just keeps getting more popular, so they keep getting snowed under by orders.  They'll do right by you as long as you're not trying to finish your rifle tomorrow...  NOBODY ships that fast.

PSA ships as fast as they can ship; they don't sit on orders just to piss off customers.

I have that upper and love it. However, check your gas tube/key fit when you get it. Mine was super tight because the heatshield in the upper handguard was so close it was actually pressing down on the gas tube near the receiver. Took the upper heat shield out and put some heat reflective tape in there (3M 3382) and worked great. Swapped the handguards for some RRA's (same size, but heatshield has more clearance as it's tucked in better) and even better.
Like you, I can't stand PSA's pathetic ship times (even on "in stock" small items), so went with AIM. Glad I did!

Did yours have any finish wear at all? It's a very small amount, and it also has a small gouge under the finish as well.

My OCD is making me nitpick, I know it's a tool and all. But I feel like I should have paid the price for a blemished lower lol. It's not bad enough for me to want an exchange, just sucks I didn't put the marks there myself.

Mine had a few nicks on the barrel, but receiver was flawless. The port door is bent out at the corners slightly (instead of the usual inward bend), but I can easily live with that. My main issue was that those slimline handguards do not leave much room for gas tube clearance (the heat shield was pressing on the gas tube). Take you bolt out, and run the bcg back and forth to make sure there's no key/tube friction. I had to take the top heat shield out to relieve the pressure off the gas tube (then the bcg was smooth as butter). If you have the same issue I had/found, you can use 3M 3382 heat reflective foil in the top half (instead of that heat shield) or replace them with RRA handguards (they are same shape, but have a deeper cutout for gas tube and heatshields are formed for more clearance).
You'll like that upper, she's a sweet shooter!

Here's mine as it is now:

I'll check it out when my PSA BCG/BCM Gunfighter come in the mail. Odds are Ill be replacing them with an MOE Handguard, or a UTG Pro Drop In Slim Rail. They don't seem to be pushing down on the gas tube thankfully, But I cant know for sure until the bcg comes.

It has been over three weeks since I ordered a bcg and lpk and they haven't shipped yet. In the last day or two the bcg has gone out of stock. At this rate I'll be lucky to have my parts in another 3 weeks.

I had questions before ordering a gun kit so I emailed them … no re to three emails
I got worried what I wanted would fall out of stock so I just ordered it without the changes / upgrade I wanted.
After a couple weeks (still no emails back from them) I decide to call … mainly because I entered a po box for an earlier ammo order.

ISYN
I waited on hold for 45 minuets before deciding to take the leave a message option …. the mail box was full and it hung up on me.
I called back and got back in line for another 35 minuets.
Finally a super nice gal came on the line and fixed everything and answered all questions … they need more like her

Yep on July 2nd I ordered 200 rounds of in stock ammo and 2 in stock magazine along with a "in stock" NiB BCG. The ammo and mags shipped yesterday but the BCG did not. I waited on hold for 30 minutes before I got to talk to someone and he said the BCG comes from a different warehouse and that warehouse is currently processing orders from the 30th-2nd so he claimed it would ship today...we will see. Its the only part left that I need to finally get to shoot my first AR for the first time.

I seriously don't understand why people continue ordering from these people. The way they treat customers is no different than the shitty-est gun stores in the country.

Price is the only reason I did.

I do wish I had gone with the AIM surplus NiB BCG now though.

I just ordered my first part from them (A2 stock). I know they're a great company, but their shipping is terrible. I ordered it 10 days ago and it's still processing.

I tried to call them to ask if it was just an error or not but I hung up after being put on hold for 30 mins.

They say they have a ton going on right now though, so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah it took them 3 weeks to get a complete lower to me but the complete upper (part I thought would take the longest) was at my door in 8 days. My July 2nd order got to my door this morning minus my BCG.
